A483 – Sugar Loaf (Llanwrtyd Wells) to Chester Trunk Road

The A483 is the major north-south trunk road route running down the east of the region running from the A55 and onwards to Chester in the north, past Wrexham, to the Sugar Loaf (Powys_Carmarthenshire border).

The A483 also links to the A55 to the north, and the A5 to the south, forming part of a strategic international route through the region, linking Holyhead in the west, to the Midlands and southern England to the east. This part of the network also forms part of the Felixstowe-Holyhead Trans European Network.

Apart from a short single carriageway section between Ruabon and Chirk, the A483 within North and Mid Wales is a 2 lane dual carriageway.
